Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA)” is non- governmental community development organization. BSWA has started its journey from District Khairpur in 1995. It was firstly registered as “Bhittai Social Welfare Association” with Social Welfare Department Government of Sindh, under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Act Registration & Control Ordinance 1961. Later, with expansion in the programs and area in 2012, it was re-named as “Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA).
BSWA started its operation from a small funding of PKR. 0.83 million from Trust for Voluntarily Organizations (TVO) for establishing Mother and Child Healthcare Centre (MCHC) at Saddar Ji Bhatyoon, Taluka Kingri District Khairpur Mirs’ Sindh . Based on this work health becomes significant theme and BSWA got experience and exposure through this project and was awarded membership in TNA through TVO. Since then, BSWA implemented 25 projects in collaboration with federal and provincial government, donors, and development partners in health, education, flood response, child protection, democracy and governance, social cohesion, women development and poverty reduction sectors. BSWA footprints now expanded from district Khairpur to other districts of Sindh province. Its office is located in Khairpur . It is operating a vocational centre in Sadar ji Bhatyon and a MCH centre in NARA area. Currently it is operational in 10 districts in Sindh. and the journey is continued with a well defined vision and mission to serve more people with the help of our valued development partners.
BSWA is guided by an executive board comprising 9 members, including 3 female members, hailing a dynamic professional background. It’s Senior Program Management Committee (SPMC), comprises of 6 senior members. Currently 21 people are working in the organization. It has a well-established owned office. It holds over 25 years experience in working with marginalized and vulnerable groups (e.g. women, ethnic minorities, people living with disability, transgender). It has formed community based social capital. It enjoys good relations with government, donors and development partners. The financial turn over for the period July- 2019 to June-2020, was PKR. 19.2 million..
